Hi, I'm Luuk. I'm 25 years old and I live with my partner Eline in the beautiful southern province of Limburg in the Netherlands. We live in a small village surrounded by nature, which we really enjoy. The peaceful environment and the green landscapes make it a wonderful place to live. In our free time, we like to spend time outdoors, go for walks, and enjoy the quiet life that the countryside offers. I appreciate living in a place where nature is always close by and where life feels a little slower and more relaxed.
My background
From a very young age, my parents always took me with them on their travels, so the travel bug caught me early in life. During those years I visited many different places and experienced new cultures, foods, and traditions. Because we lived close to the borders with Germany and Belgium, visiting other countries was always easy and nearby.
In my teenage years, something began to shift without me fully realizing it at the time. My parents took me to places far beyond the familiar—not the typical destinations, but truly exotic locations where everything felt different. The smells, the flavors, the pace of life—nothing was quite the same as what I knew. It almost became normal to be surrounded by the unfamiliar, yet that was exactly what made those experiences so impactful. Gradually, I started to understand just how vast and diverse the world really is.
Looking back, that’s where my love for travel truly began. What started as simply going along with my parents turned into a personal desire to explore and rediscover that same sense of wonder. Those early experiences left a lasting mark, sparking a curiosity and drive to keep seeking out new places beyond the ordinary. The “exotic” trips of my youth weren’t just memorable—they were the beginning of a lifelong travel bug that has only grown stronger over time.
After this period, I started traveling together with Eline. Since then we have visited many destinations together, from a city trip to Istanbul to more exotic places like Suriname and Burundi. Since then, many more beautiful trips have followed, and traveling has become an important part of my life.
My interest and passion
Since traveling has always been a big part of my life, it naturally goes together with my interest in videography and drones photography. I always take my camera's with me on my trips, so most of the video's or drone shots you will see on our socials are taken by me. Capturing moments and landscapes has become an important way for me to relive my travels.
In addition, I work in the engineering sector as a maintenance engineer with a broader background in mechatronic engineering, which allows me to work with a wide range of systems combining mechanics, electronics, and control technology. My work involves troubleshooting, optimizing, and maintaining complex machinery, as well as continuously improving processes to ensure reliability and efficiency. The diversity in this field means no two days are the same, and that same curiosity and adaptability also connect strongly with my passion for travelling. Just like exploring new countries, my work often brings me into unfamiliar environments where problem-solving, flexibility, and a hands-on mindset are essential, making the combination of engineering and travel a natural fit for me.
When I am at home, I like to stay active. I go running, cycling, or hiking almost every week. In the winter, I usually go skieing in the Austrian Alps. Sitting still is definitely not one of my strengths.
Goals for the future
In the coming year, we have several exciting trips planned. Not only will we go on road trips, but we will also take on multi-day hiking trips for the first time. This is something completely new for us, which makes it even more exciting and a bit challenging at the same time. We are also planning to travel to some remote places, almost like going to the “ends of the world” in different ways. We look forward to visiting unusual destinations, stepping outside our comfort zone, and experiencing nature in its purest and most untouched form.
Looking further ahead, we hope to explore even more remote places, including hidden gems closer to home that are often overlooked. We are always curious about different cultures, foods, and natural landscapes, and we enjoy learning from every place we visit. At the same time, we would also love to explore some of the world’s most iconic cities to experience their energy, history, and diversity. For us, traveling is about finding the perfect balance between adventure, discovery, and creating lasting memories together.
