Burundi

Burundi is a land of lush hills, shimmering lakes, and vibrant traditions that bring its landscapes to life. From the calm waters of Lake Tanganyika to the rolling hills and forested highlands, every corner offers a sense of discovery and natural beauty. The country’s rich culture, colorful markets, and warm communities invite travelers to immerse themselves in everyday life while exploring historic sites and scenic trails. For those seeking both adventure and authentic experiences, Burundi offers a journey that feels intimate, inspiring, and filled with the charm of a place still largely untouched by mass tourism.

Why you should visit Burundi

You should visit Burundi because it is one of Africa's most overlooked destinations, a small country that quietly offers stunning lake scenery, lush green highlands, and a culture rich in music and tradition that few travellers ever get to experience. Imagine sitting on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, one of the deepest and most beautiful lakes in the world, hiking through misty mountain landscapes, and watching the extraordinary Burundian drummers perform a ritual that has been passed down for centuries.

Beyond its natural beauty, Burundi is a country in the process of rediscovering itself, and there is something genuinely moving about travelling somewhere that welcomes visitors with such openness and pride.

Add to that the sense of being somewhere almost entirely off the beaten path, and Burundi becomes a destination for travellers who want an experience that feels truly their own.

For us, Burundi is not just an undiscovered destination, it is a reminder of why travelling beyond the obvious is always worth it.

Our experiences

Exploring Iceland by campervan was without a doubt one of the best travel experiences we have ever had. Having the freedom to drive wherever we wanted and stay the night surrounded by nature made the trip feel incredibly special. We woke up next to waterfalls, parked with views over vast landscapes and ended our days in complete silence under the open sky. The flexibility of a compact camper made it easy to adjust our plans and follow the weather or our mood. It turned the journey into an adventure where every day felt different and completely our own.
